Our Mission
Buildcorp is a prominent construction company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects while maintaining ethical and sustainable practices.
Their project at 477 Pitt Street, Sydney, required an in-depth assessment of the supply chain for GRC panels to ensure compliance with modern slavery regulations.
For the first time, Buildcorp undertook a modern slavery risk assessment of the supply chain for a specific building component at the request of their client, ISPT Super Property.
This initiative was part of Buildcorp’s broader commitment to supply chain transparency and ethical sourcing.
The Challenge of Modern Slavery Compliance
Before engaging with Trace SCI, Buildcorp faced the challenge of ensuring their supply chain for the GRC panels was free from modern slavery risks.
Buildcorp required a detailed and transparent assessment to identify and address any potential risks, particularly given the complex and multi-tiered nature of the supply chain.
Trace SCI provided Buildcorp with access to our global network of CSR audit and quality management solution partners, ensuring comprehensive compliance and risk mitigation assessment.
Why Buildcorp Chose Trace SCI
Buildcorp chose Trace SCI due to their proven expertise in supply chain transparency and traceability.
Trace SCI’s comprehensive approach to risk assessment, including the use of advanced technology and industry knowledge, ensured compliance with modern slavery standards and provided Buildcorp with the necessary insights to manage their supply chain effectively and leverage the finding for Modern Slavery Position Statement.
How Trace SCI Responded
Trace SCI initiated the project by leveraging their proprietary technology and industry expertise to map out the supply chain. They conducted geo-positioning of manufacturing sources and raw material suppliers, assessed CSR and environmental accreditations, and applied the Property Council of Australia’s tier methodology. This detailed approach allowed them to trace the supply chain down to Tier 5 suppliers, identifying significant compliance gaps.
The Results
Trace The assessment revealed that Hebei Longteng, a Tier 4 GRC manufacturer, lacked CSR or ISO accreditation standards. Trace SCI facilitated a 2-pillar SMETA audit through their partner QIMA, which identified 32 non-compliance issues.
A corrective action plan was implemented over several months, resulting in Hebei Longteng obtaining ISO9001 and SEDEX SMETA accreditation.
The project provided valuable insights into modern slavery risk assessment and highlighted best practices for supply chain transparency.
